Re - seam and publishers.
There are different deals around.
The thing is that more and more devs are bringing stuff directly to steam and thats the model thats working better and better, cutting out the middle man which is better for everyone...

Therefore,
I ask again, do we have asurance that 4packs will get 4 steam codes?
Thnx.

We are evaluating the implementation on STEAM, but to be honest this depends rather on STEAM than on us ;)

Please vote for us, so Battle Worlds: Kronos will be available on STEAM.

So as Colin mentioned in the two posts above, Steam access is dependent on Steam accepting the game via Steam Greenlight.  This blog post on the Kickstarter page states:
"Many backers ask if it will be possible to get a Steam code for Battle Worlds. We talked to some other developers with Kickstarter and Steam experience and it looks like we'll be able to provide enough codes for every backer interested... IF we get on Steam"

So Athelas, I take from this that if Steam accepts the game, they will provide Steam codes for backers.  But because they cannot guarantee it will be on Steam, it would be irresponsible to guarantee Steam codes at this point.

Some news regarding Steam & GoG.com:

Both seem to be willing to provide us with codes as soon as the game has been released on their platforms. So our plan is to ask every backer prior to the release if he or she wants to have the Steam-version (DRM), the GoG-version (DRM-free) or our version (DRM-free).

Sad to hear that we'll have to choose between Steam and non-DRM versions.... How does this work with the boxed copies then?

well, they probably have to give up part of income for those keys.
dualism for example steam and their own download should be available though (like Stardock does it).

please think about it.

Yes, I wouldn't really be asking if their own download had been said to be available for all subs. The answer was worded so that their own download version seemed to be mutually exclusive with GoG/Steam too. I agree that picking only one of GoG/Steam is definitely reasonable.

<edit>
Also occurred to me... what about the mobile (iOS/Android) versions?

I fully agree.
as to the iOS and similar versions...debatable.
They can't give keys to itunes store. they would have to pay to apple piece of it.
they could release free app with basic scenarios. everything else unlockable for owners.
maybe?

or web/browser game.

@Slux: Good point. I think at least our version should be available for everybody in addition to a Steam/GoG key.

We have to see how everything works out. Since every backer will get every version for free, there might be theoretically backers with a Mac, Linux, OUYA, iPad and Android-Tablet version… and to add three different PC-versions to that might end up a little bit complicated ;-)

If i pledge this will all copies receive steam key?

Also, u might wanna save money for infrastructure for player sharing with steam workshop. Works wonders!

I was hoping for GOG keys, considering the game is supposed to be DRM free. :)
I'll vote for Kronos on Greenlight anyway, the more digital distribution channels it's available on, the better (and it goes without saying Steam is too big to ignore).

I think you are quite right. Problems will always be there, and i also know that is obvious
